Sub-Scorcher

 Surfboard Sub-Scorcher

THE SUB-SCORCHER – Kolohe Andino's grovel board... and our breakout hit of 2010. A blend of the old SD2 and the Scorcher, but squashed-n-wide. Low entry rocker, with a bit of tip flip, into a low tail rocker with shallow concaves through the center to straighten the rail line which makes it easier to lay such a wide platform on a rail. Our stubbiest shortboard yet, but it still carves like a real board. A forward wide point and the strong hip in the outline combine for drive and turning. Kolohe wanted to call it "The Trashcan Lid" because you don't need to go dumpster diving to get one of these! Ride 'em short-n-wide to feel the glide... it's the easiest pointed nose board you will ever ride.

Scorcher

 Surfboard Scorcher

THE SCORCHER – Kolohe's all around small to average wave contest board is also the most popular HP short board in our line. His trademark carving style is based around this rocker, outline and rails. The SCORCHER features the same low entry rocker, forward outline and rear rail line rocker of the Stealth, but with the wide bump squash, low stringer centerline rocker and Vee out the back from the SD2. The deep Vee out the tail allows more full rail carving and drive. Kolohe has used this model to win countless national and US surfing titles, as well as his first few Pro events already. This board is already the rage amongst the custom order crew. Ride about 2" shorter 1/8" thinner and 1/4" wider than an F1 or Whiplash type short board.

Sub-Blaster

 Surfboard Sub-Blaster

SUB-BLASTER - A blast from the past! Spawning from the” Flashback” model of 2010. It features the Flashbacks rocker, foil, volume, and dimensions, smashed together with the Sub Scorchers hugely popular outline. The Flashback is one of my all-time favorite mushy wave boards, but many people were put off by the radical tail shape. The 1980’s influenced bottom, featuring a low rocker and a slight vee throughout, allows you to ride much more volume that you normally would (making waves easy to catch and connecting slow sections a breeze) and still be able to get the board on rail. Even though it’s thick, it doesn’t ride flat or boaty. Another benefit to vee bottoms is how they cut through slop and chop like a knife through butter. The squash tail is a perfect summer time toy and I also made a round pin version that opens the design up to waves well over head and even tubes. I made one for myself and surfed all over the Mentawais with it this spring. Rock it with bright neon colors, a five fin convertible set up, and blast away at summer boredom.

Driver

 Surfboard Driver

THE DRIVER – Surfboard trends tend to move in circles. The last few years have been highlighted by a move toward shorter, wider, higher volume surfboards.Because of shapers melding these elements, with creative combinations of rocker, foil, bottom contours and fin clusters, the everyday surfer has benefitted dramatically. But what's next? In the end, we feel it comes back to a user friendly, high performance, modern shortboard. A shortboard that isn't impossible to jump onto after riding a stubby hybrid everyday for a month... doesn't feel long or stiff, or paddle like an Alia. A short board that works in everything from 2' mush to 6' grinders. The Driver...Developed when one of the bigger, more powerful, yet still new school, surfers on tour came looking for something special for the California contest season. The design concept wasn't new, but the resulting board is. Defined by a long, straight rocker through the middle of the board that then lifts to a healthy nose rocker (so the board redirects when put on a rail) and a low, but curvy tail rocker that's moved way back under the rear foot (for quick turns in tight sections). The same goes for the outline: It's long and straight through the middle (netting a wider than average nose and rear hip area, allowing it to be ridden close to traditional shortboard widths with a lot of curve from just in front of the fins, through the tail. The wide point is pushed further back, creating a turning fulcrum between the feet. These elements, combined with a flattish deck line, full rails and a thickness flow that holds volume into the tips, nets a board that glides through flats, holds long arcing carves and still snaps in the pocket. Unlike any other board in our line and is not only being quickly adopted by top team riders pros looking for something new, but we honestly feel that the Driver is the board that can get us all back onto a modern High Performance thruster shortboard. Recommended to be ridden close to typical shortboard dims, with higher volume than normal due to the design.

Mini Driver

 Surfboard Mini Driver

THE MINI DRIVER - While preparing a quiver for last month’s Indo trip, Kolohe asked for “A short, fast (flat rockered) little 5fin tube rider”. I recommended the Rock-Up, but he felt it had more tail rocker than he liked and wanted something really, really fast that he could take off extremely deep and pump through tubes from way back. We started with a 6’0” Driver, took note of the nose rocker and outline measurements at 4” and 16” back from the tip, then shrank the board to a 5’8” and lowered the nose rocker at the tip and 12” back till it matched the 4” and 16” marks from before we widened the nose till it matched up the same way. This gave us a screaming fast low nose rocker with a forward placed outline. Both of these attributes also gave tons of drive. We then rounded off the tail, but left the width at 12” the same. This gave us a very clean and elliptical outline that we expected would move free and easy inside the tube. The “Minnie Driver” performed as hoped. Interestingly enough, one of Kolohe’s buddies (Taylor Clark) grabbed it after it came back from Indo and used it in the US Nationals event in Huntington Beach. He surfed it in 2’ slop all the way to a 2nd place finish in the open men’s division. The board worked in everything!

Sub-Driver

 Surfboard Sub-Driver

THE SUB DRIVER -The Sub Driver is something that Kolohe Andino specifically asked for this spring. Most of his small or mushy wave surfing had been on 5’10” x 18.88 x 2.25” Sub Scorchers. In solid or curvy, more powerful waves, he has been riding his 6’0” x 18.56” x 2.25” squash tail Drivers. He asked me to make something in between…”His Driver with the Sub Scorcher outline”. Using the AKU shaper program, I simply imported the Sub Scorcher’s outline onto the Driver rocker, bottom, foil, and rails. We then sized it just between the Sub Scorcher and his Driver at 5’11” x 18.75” x 2.25”. The result is a board that he’s been riding in all sorts of waves from knee high San Clemente beach breaks to fun sized Indo. We came up with a cool, new logo and rushed this model into US stores for summer 2011. More nose rocker and less tail rocker (with no vee) than the Sub Scorcher. This is a great all around small to mid-sized wave board for both average and exceptional surfers. Early response has been fantastic. Ride 1" longer and a touch more narrow than a Sub Scorcher, or 1" shorter slightly wider than the Driver.

F-1

 Surfboard F-1

The F-1 (Formula 1) – Inspired by the ultimate performance of F1 racing cars (which feature the perfect combination of speed and turning) and influenced by working with the best shapers and surfers in the world. This year's version of the F1 is the result of ongoing refinement based on feedback from world class surfers searching for both carving arcs and tight radius turning. It features design elements from every high performance model we have ever made. Simply put, it's our take on the modern, cutting edge, high performance short board. Great board for good waves, punchy beach breaks of any size and surfers who prefer, and know how to use, a low volume, sensitive, modern HP board. Also available in FST technology.

F-1 Stub

 Surfboard F-1 Stub

F1-STUB- All around competition short board. During 2009, as the F1 became a board of choice for many team riders, the low end limitations of the design were becoming apparent. Looking to make the F1 excel in smaller gutless surf, we widened and slightly lowered the rocker in the nose for forward glide (but kept the tail rocker the same). We increased rail volume and straightened the outline via a hip making the tail wider in front of the fins and at the tail block - adding drive, lift and tight radius pivot, but keeps same width at 12" for control. Coco Ho won back to back WQS events in Brazil on her magic F1 Stub this fall. Young Aussie Phenom, J.W., used an F1 Stub to make 3 WQS finals in a row and secure a late season push for 2011 WT qualification. Fine tuning and intensive RnD with top pros during 2010 has netted an F1 Stub that is a contest proven, quintessential, modern, everyday performance surfboard.

Whiplash!

 Surfboard Whiplash!

WHIPLASH! - COMPLETELY REDESIGNED DURING 2010. Over the years, more traveling pro surfers have come to us for the Whiplash than anyother model. Built for precision high speed surfing. Low volume rails, and vee deck with a narrow nose and tail block combine with an aggressive rail rocker and deep concaves to keep it moving. The Whiplash is the most sensitive andresponsive board we offer. Not recommended for below average surfers or for use in sloppy surf. This board performs best in the pocket of curvy waves of any size. The board of choice for fast snappy surfers like Chris "Davo" Davidson, Andrew Doheny and Luke Davis. In 2010, Carissa Moore used an updated Whiplash to win two WT events (so far) and the US Open of Surfing.

SDII

 Surfboard SDII

SD-II – The "Every man's short board" features a moderate entry rocker and low, drivey tail rocker, with a hyper-extended rail line in the tail (creating a pronounced vee behind the rear fin), flattish deck, full forgiving outline and rails, with a single to double concave bottom. The SD-II has evolved into an international favorite and is one of the most popular surfboard models on the planet. It's a board for the average surfer looking for slightly wider standard dims than the pro's potato chips, without sacrificing maneuverability. Also of note, this is our most popular board on both ends of the size spectrum. The design translates well to small mini-grom boards like Kolohe Andino's contest winners (the drivey rocker and full outline forces traditional carving and power surfing into young kids) and also makes a great Big Guy Short board in the 6'6" to 7'6" range.

SDIII

 Surfboard SDIII

First released in 06, and was the best response we've ever had for a new Shortboard model. This year's version features our latest fine tuned rocker and bottom contours and that classic SD3 outline. Built with a vee deck to boxy, yet sensitive rail.

The rocker is long and straight through the middle with accentuated kick in the nose and tail allowing it to carry through flats, fit in tight pockets, and lay on a rail. This board has become our all around War Horse of a Shortboard. Comes standard now as a no bump squash, but was ridden with success and made popular as double wing swallow by Ward.

…Lost Rockets

Rocket

 Surfboard Rocket

THE ROCKET - The REAL board that started a Revolution! Originally shaped as a 5'3" for Shane's young son Noah by former ...Lost shaper and pro surfer Noah Budroe. The board features a wide forward outline with round forgiving rails, flat deck and a wide "rocket" tail. The rocker is extremely low in the entry, for instant speed, with an exaggerated kick in the tail for tight arcs out of turns. An average wave all-rounder that can be effectively ridden 4" to 6" shorter, 1/8" thinner, and just slightly wider than your normal short board without sacrificing any carve or drive.

Hundreds of imitations, but duplicated by none. Everyone deserves to have an original Rocket in their quiver.

V2 Rocket

 Surfboard V2 Rocket

V2 ROCKET - The V2 has a bit less tail rocker, with less concave through the fins, which creates a faster rail line under foot. I actually deepened the concave out of the tail as well. The soft wing helps retain quick redirection off the top and bottom… and lend more control in the bowl. To tell you the truth, I moved the points of the diamond up a bit and made the angle closer to the Stealth tail, but haven’t finalized this 100%. The nose rocker is bent up more in the last 12″ (to balance the lower tail rocker and keep from poking) and the concave is brought further forward (to compensate for more nose rocker and also further elongate the rail line for more front foot drive) to help with even faster out of the gates rides. The tail is sculpted in a more pronounced way, adding a touch of double concave under the rear foot, as well as a low, square and boxy tail rail. I also made the nose a touch wider in the 12-18” mark. Overall, an easier board to ride for an average surfer in sub par waves. It has more down the line drive and a bit less skateboard kick tail feel. The Rocket was one of the most popular boards around the world in the last 5 years… one of the most well known and knocked off surfboard models in recent memory. It obviously has merit and worked well for thousands of surfers, but there is always room for improvement. I used the feedback from the average Joe to update and refine what was not broken. The original Rocket will always be available from us as well. This doesn’t replace the Rocket – it compliments it.

Grocket

 Surfboard Grocket

GROCKET- The pro's choice version of the Rocket. Pulled in single wing, swallow tail (for tight radius control and precision) and a touch more nose rocker make this hybrid of the Rocket the choice for light, fast, snappy surfers. Gorkin, Ian Gentil, Ben Borgeouis, Asher Nolan, Andrew Doheny, Cory Lopez and Hobgood Bros all count the Grocket as one of their all time favorite boards. ...Now available as the "GROCKET BG". Flatter deck, with full rails and straighter wider tail and nose outlines, give the Grocket "BG" added, built in momentum, and more stable and forgiving ride. This "Gentleman's" version of the Grocket makes a great all-rounder for slightly older or more solidly built (fat?) surfers.

Scorch-it

 Surfboard Scorch-it

SCORCH-IT What if we take Sub-Scorcher's front half (rocker, outline and foil) with the Rockets back half (but with a more conservative rocker) and then ran a deep single channel out the tail? ...You get The "Scorch-It". Although they have faded in popularity, channel bottoms add bite, create drive through turns and bring explosive, exhilarating and powerful qualities to surfing. With all the creativity in surfboards these days, it seemed right to combine the locked in, powerful, driving sensation of classic tail channels with post modern hybrid designs of today.

The "Scorch-It" has a moderate tail rocker for glide, but the deep single channel through the tail (which both adds grip and an afterburner like thrust out of turns) lets the water release out the tail and actually increases the rocker without sacrificing any drive.

Qualities include:
  • High overall volume for easy wave catching and crowd negotiating.
  • Tight radius, locked in pocket carves without drift.
  • Shorter/quicker turns and go more vertical in dumpy shore break than the "Sub".
  • Drive through long arcs, skate across mush and hold in at high speeds.

Ride as a Thruster, or experiment with a 5 fin custom convertible about the same length as a Sub or 2" longer than a Rocket.

Rock-Up

 Surfboard Rock-Up

ROCK-UP (Step up Rocket) – If a Rocket (or other hybrid) has become your favorite daily board, and you find it frustrating switching back to a traditional, pointy nose step-up board on bigger, crowded days ...then this board is for you. Designed to be ridden 2-4" longer than you would a Rocket. The low entry rocker, flat deck and tapered rails (with a full forward outline) paddles through crowds and moving water, and catches waves with ease. The pulled in tail, combined with the aggressive tail rocker and a smoother, shallower concave, allows controlled maneuvers at high speeds on chest high to double overhead waves. Chris Ward's one board quiver these days.

…Lost Fish

Blacksheep

 Surfboard Blacksheep

THE BLACK SHEEP - What if we combined two of our most popular designs? Put a Sub-Scorcher tail on the Rockets nose? We did just that, and what came out is the driviest, on- rail carving, hybrid stub we have ever made. Featuring the exact nose outline, rocker and foil that made the Rocket's so fast, smashed together with the Sub-Scorcher's wide tailed, flat rocker to vee combo. The rear outline and rocker both become straighter than the Rocket, allowing this board to fly across flat gutless waves in a way the Rocket couldn't for many surfers. The vee lends control and smooth rail-to-rail transitions, and "Super Swallow" tail allows some bleeding off of speed and adds bite, encouraging hard turning. For any one who wished the Rocket was easier to ride in junky waves, but didn't want to add volume or go to a more "grovel" board design, this is your answer. Designed with double concave, "exacta deck" (first used in our Placebo line a few years back) in the tail, to mimic that "magic board", locked in feeling for your back foot. Because of the low tail rocker and tail shape this board works well as a Thruster or quad.

Monkfish

 Surfboard Monkfish

THE MONKFISH - Influenced by the high volume, vee bottom, MR retro models. Without being tied to recreating boards from the past, we have developed this great post modern redux. The tip to tip vee bottom is a great, and mostly overlooked, design that allows thicker, high volume boards to still be sensitive rail to rail and not surf "flat". Vee bottoms go through chop like a hot knife through butter and glide smoothly in windblown slop. The thickness, flat deck, and width makes it a great paddler. The steep rails and forward wide point provide drive and stability, and the pulled in nose tip with healthy amount of rocker allow for tight radius surfing not possible with typical "retro fish" boards. Also available as single wing, round pin tail (for a wider range of surf) as seen under the feet of Cory Lopez in the Cory's Left segment in 5'5" x 19 14" REDUX.

Motivator

 Surfboard Motivator

THE MOTIVATOR- Designed to be a "Step Down" Rocket/full on groveler, The Motivator is easy to "get going" in 1'-2' junk. Knowing it takes much more than hacking a flat rockered Sputnik out of a slab of foam to make a great hi-performance groveler, we went to work making a high performance grovel board to "Motivate" people to get out and surf in that 1' junk.

  • Widen the nose and oversized Rocket tail. The straighter outline creates drive.
  • Thick nose and tail foil (with a beak nose to abruptly thin out the tip) to add flotation without increasing overall thickness.
  • Low tail rocker along the stringer line (to add drive and resistance to rear foot in mushy waves) combined with curvy rail rocker (creating a strong "V" behind the rear foot) creating a magic, tight turning radius when put on a rail.
  • Flat deck and a full, steep rail for stability and paddle power.
  • The wide tail features a volume reducing "step rail" to the last 10", to add bite and make "real" turns in small surf easier.
Feel free to ride this one 1-2" shorter, and up to 2" wider than a Rocket.

Blunt

 Surfboard Blunt

THE BLUNT – My personal favorite. While surfing the mushy point and beach breaks of San Clemente, I am always looking for a board that paddles easily, glides across flats, and carves mush, yet still allows vertical turning and snaps in the pocket. Influenced by the jumbo wide tails of 80's Laser Zap, this board was designed around a modern thickness flow, rails, and bottom curves, but with an extra wide round tail to stay on top of the water. The outline up front is wide and curvy as well. The round tail encourages flowing turns and rolls tight in the pocket. The rocker is low throughout, but with an aggressive acceleration in the tail. The rail rocker "hangs" lower than the center line in the rear half, creating a radically deep concave and curvey rail line through the fins. This makes for extreme lift, and fast tight arc'd turns out of the tail. The bottom rail is tucked all the way through the fins, so you can get it up on a rail and not slide out too easily. Riding this board is the most fun I have ever had in typical waist to chest high Trestles surf. I couldn't recommend it more.

Double Blunt

 Surfboard Double Blunt

THE DOUBLE-BLUNT - For many of us, the Blunt has been an all-time favorite in waist to head high surf. I end up taking mine on work trips to places like Costa Rica and Europe, etc. and I know I can feel comfortable in most small surf situations. Often times I end up being in surf that’s just one step (or maybe 2 steps) above what the Blunt excels in, and I wish I had something with a bit more hold and control... without sacrificing the freedom, speed and looseness. Introducing the DOUBLE-BLUNT. Meant to be ridden 1-2” longer than a Blunt. Everything (outline, foil, rocker, etc.) the same, except a touch more nose rocker in the front 12” and double bumps added to create significantly less tail area behind the fins. I can still generate speed in junk, but lay down far more critical and precise turns, when going full speed, as well as hold in off the top and bottom on waves up to 3-4’ overhead. Not as gunny or foiled out as The Rock-Up, but more of a one board quiver for a conservative, hybrid loving, surfer who needs something for 3’-8’ surf.

Flashback

 Surfboard Flashback

THE FLASHBACK - Knowledge of your past to create a better future. The 1980's, an era of functional, full volume boards with bright colors and a flashy, fun attitude that made summertime small wave ripping a piece of cake. That was the inspiration for this board. Taking design (both shape and art) direction from some of the hottest boards of the neon 80's (McCoy, MR, Simon, Stussy, McElroy, Schroff and Rusty). By morphing together what I loved most about this era with a bit of what we have learned in modern times we came up with this "Blast from The Past". The primary components are a low overall rocker, thickness generously distributed well into the nose and tail (and out into the rails), a conservative bottom with slight Vee in the nose to flat through the middle and slight double concave Vee out the tail. The extremely wide back half of theboard generates radical drive and lift, while the double bump "butt" tail adds control and smooth roll in and out of turns. Works great as quad or thruster so we stock with 5 fin plugs. This board is just too easy to have fun on. We highly recommend them with our assortment of classic 80's air sprays to finish things off.

Bottom Feeder

 Surfboard Bottom Feeder

THE BOTTOM FEEDER - Our latest board design for riding the smallest waves possible. A board that feeds and thrives off of the bottom end of the wave spectrum. I was feeling held back a bit by the wide noses on the Plank and the Uber Plank, and wanted to make a board with more outline curve and no wings. Something more elliptical…This board has a lower entry rocker than I have ever done and uses a rolled vee belly to keep it from catching. The belly continues through the center but features a double concave sitting inside it, which creates a tri plane hull featuring a soft chine in the rail. This feeds water through the hull and gives it a feeling close to a concave bottom board. The tail features enough rail rocker and hip to allow aggressive direction changes in tiny surf without losing speed. I am feeling outlines that are more and more clean, with less wings and fancy, trendy tail shapes. This board showcases that concept. It’s designed as a quad, but can be ridden as a five fin as well. I prefer it with Future fins boxes and fiberglass “controller” fins.

Uber Plank

 Surfboard Uber Plank

UBER PLANK - Refined, more high performance version of "The Plank". Never one to leave well enough alone and influenced by the feeling of burying a snowboard rail 90 degrees into soft powder, I went to work fine tuning The Plank into a small wave, on rail, carving Machine.

Same rocker and foil, but with updates in bottom curves and outline to increase performance. Wing "Squallow" (swallow set into a squash) tail adds bite and increases precision. Nose tip is pulled to reduce un-needed volume, swing weight and quicken up turns. Bottom now features single concave set into a rolled Vee through middle, increasing lift at low speedswhile still being easy to roll onto a rail for hard carves in the smallest of waves.

Plank

 Surfboard Plank

THE PLANK- When it's really small and mushy you can forget the long board. Originally inspired after trying a friend's "Mini Simmons" twin keel, retro board in knee high lumps. The board was fast and fun, but I couldn't really lay into it. Motivated to do better, I hand shaped a "Green Foam" recycled fish blank and attacked the 6'0" blank like a high school sculpture project.... keeping in mind the unique glide of that "Simmons". The blank was pretty thin, so I left the deck flat. It's really wide, so no concave. Looking for ridiculous glide, but demanding aggressive turning, I left it really straight rockered, but did a little flip out the back. I made it a strong bump, diamond tail. In place of the twin keels, wanting a more reliable feeling, I chose to make it a quad, and used a Future Fins solid glass fin we have been playing with as the template. That first "Plank" was about 6'0" x 22" x 2.5" full, and was the easiest board I have ever ridden in waves I would normally only bother with on a long board. The "Plank" catches anything and does full rail roundhouse cutbacks on 10" high lumps of water. If you like the way it looks, and want a truly unique and extreme small wave tool to keep you off that log, then think about custom ordering one of these. I guarantee you won't be let down.

Mini Gun

 Surfboard Mini Gun

STEP UPS & MINI GUNS - Everyone should have one! Designed as a primary travel board, or for the best days at home and meant to paddle strong, hold in at high speeds and till turn critically when you need it to. The bottom features a fine single concave from just forward of the front foot through most of tail, with just a hint of vee behind the back fin. Combined with an accelerated rocker and "short board" rails, our step up mini guns are more performance based than a "pure" gun. Thin rails in the back half keep it holding in the barrels. A Step Up is 2-4" longer and a Mini Gun is 4-12" longer than your every day short board.... and usually the same width and a bit thicker. We offer the Miniguns in a quad setup as well...Wardo's favorite!
